Since graduating college, Amy has worked in general practice (both large and small animal), laboratory animal medicine, and at a canine reproductive practice. Fourteen years ago, she found her home at Gratiot Animal Hospital in Saginaw; here she moved into a management role and received her CVPM. She is also Fear Free and Human Animal Bond certified. Amy is a member of AAHA, VHMA, NAVTA, and the Mid-Michigan Labrador Retriever Club. Amy lives with her husband and has five grown children, one granddaughter, and a grandson on the way! She is the proud owner of Bad River Labradors, where she raises, trains, and competes with her dogs. In her free time, she loves spending time with friends and family, hiking and kayaking with her dogs, and is an avid UofM Football, Red Wings, and Lions fan! Member At Large:Ann Wortinger, LVTAnn is a 1983 graduate of Michigan State University and got her specialty certification in Emergency/ Critical Care in 2000, in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2008, and in Nutrition in 2013. In 2020, she attained her Elite Fear Free certification (Veterinary), and in 2025, gained her Fellow of the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators (FVTE). She has worked in general, emergency, specialty practice, education, and management. Ann is active in her state, national, and specialty organizations and has served on the Internal Medicine and Nutrition organizing committees. She has mentored over 20 fellow VTSs and has worked on a variety of committees and positions. She is currently at Appalachian State University’s Veterinary Technology Program as a Content Developer and Faculty, and an active speaker and writer. Ann has over 50 published articles in various professional magazines as well as book chapters and a book, Nutrition and Disease Management for Veterinary Technicians and Nurses, in its third edition, coauthored with Kara Burns. Her fur/feather/fin family consists of 5 resident cats, multiple foster kittens, chickens, guineas, and a pond full of goldfish | Vice-President:Jessica Pittman, LVTJessica has been in veterinary medicine for 13 years, with 11 of those as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Over the years, she’s worked in Emergency, General Practice, and Practice Management. Erika Pease, LVT, CVPM
Erika has been a licensed veterinary technician for 25 years and is passionate about supporting her fellow Licensed Veterinary Technicians. Erika graduated from Macomb Community College with honors in 1999 and earned her Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) accreditation in 2019. She has worked in emergency medicine but mostly enjoys working in a small animal private practice setting. She enjoys working with patients and educating clients but her biggest enjoyment is leading her amazing team at a small animal private practice. She has managed a practice for over 12 years and has enjoyed teaching and learning beside her team. She enjoys continuing her education in many areas of veterinary medicine and then sharing and expanding that knowledge with other technicians. In her free time, you will find her traveling with her family, reading, or enjoying her time at home on her hobby farm with her family and their many pets. Recording Secretary:Megan Olmstead, LVT, Grad Cert (Veterinary Medicine)recsecmavt@gmail.com Megan has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician since graduating in 2003 from Baker College of Flint. She has since earned a Bachelors Degree from Baker College and a Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Medicine from University of Missouri. She has worked in general practice (small animal and exotics), emergency, zoo, and a high volume spay/neuter clinic. She is the Clinical Coordinator and an Assistant Professor for the Veterinary Technology program at Baker College in Owosso, and she is a RECOVER Certified Rescuer and Fear-Free Certified. She is passionate about exotic medicine, specifically reptiles, and absolutely loves teaching the next generation of LVTs! She shares her home with her husband, two daughters, two dogs, a cat, a snake, a bearded dragon, and her beloved yellowfoot tortoise, Roland. In her free time, she loves spending time up north, watching baseball games, and napping. |
