Scholarships

We are happy to offer two scholarships to our members each year to provide financial aid to aspiring technicians and assist with continuing education costs for LVTs. Both scholarship recipients are also awarded free attendance to our annual conference. Award must be collected within one year. 

Deadline for 2024 Scholarship entries is August 10, 2024.

Student Scholarship- Award $500

Prize

The recipient will receive $500 and free registration to the 2024 MAVT Annual Conference.

Eligibility

Entrants must have an active MAVT student membership and be a first- or second-year student currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology Program.

Submission Requirements

Entrants must submit an essay discussing the importance of veterinary technicians in the field of veterinary medicine and why you chose to pursue this career path . Essay should be a minimum of 500 words. Essays are evaluated on content, grammar, and professionalism. Winner will be chosen by the MAVT Executive Board Members. The board reserves the right to disqualify any essay not meeting these standards.

LVT Scholarship- Award Up to $1,000

Prize

The recipient will be awarded reimbursement up to $1,000 to attend the veterinary conference of their choice. Eligible expenses include registration, transportation, and lodging. Conference must be RACE approved. The winner will also receive free registration to the 2024 MAVT Annual Conference.

Eligibility

The recipient must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician  in the state of Michigan and have an active MAVT membership.

Submission Requirements

To apply you must submit an essay of 1,000-2,00 words. You may choose the topic of your choice; however, it must serve an educational purpose. The essay needs to include a minimum of two (2) references and two (2) graphics accompanying the article. The article may not have been previously published. Essays are evaluated on content, grammar, and professionalism. Winner will be chosen by the MAVT Executive Board Members. The board reserves the right to disqualify any essay not meeting these standards.



*Executive Board Members are not eligible for these scholarships.
