President-Elect

I have an axolotl named Emma and my favorite dog breed is Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Jennifer McLean

I have worked in vet med for 23 years and been licensed for 19 years. I have worked in private and corporate hospitals giving me good feel on how both are run. I am currently the HM at my hospital as well as continuing to work as LVT.

I love being a LVT and I’m proud to tell people what I do. I would like to be able to tell our community in Michigan who we are and what we do! I want to help our younger generation see what being a LVT means and how you can help companion animals and their parents.

Recording Secretary

In my spare time I enjoy raising orphan kittens, assisting with local youth 4-H, and raising animals on my hobby farm.

Sarah Berens

Licensed Veterinary Technician at the Kentwood Cat Clinic, a feline only clinic in Grand Rapids Michigan, for more than 12 years. Graduate of Sanford Brown College. Winner of the Veterinary Technician Scholarship at the 2024 AAFP conference.

My interest in the role of Recording Secretary of the MAVT stems from a long time passion for the advancement of quality nursing care in veterinary medicine. I believe that Vet Med is an ever progressive field. It is a pleasure to be a part of the industry. I strive to make a difference for the well being of animals as well as the the humans they come with and the veterinary staff that dedicate their lives to caring. As a board member of the MAVT I would strive to promote the abilities and role of the Veterinary Nurse as the industry moves forward and medical advancements are made.

Treasurer

I am an entrepreneur and in my free time I love to travel with my husband and barrel race with my horse Bow.

I currently work part time as a relief veterinary technician. I own a bookkeeping business and currently manage client's business financials full time. In addition, I serve with Christian Veterinary Mission on veterinary related missions trips (specifically small animal spay/neuters). I am an avid learner and enjoy mentoring up and coming veterinary technicians.
